LILITH, sculpture

Photo: Sofie Isaksson

An arm and a leg made of cardboard, papier-mâché and silicone are displayed in St. Nicholas Church. The work is part of Captivating Movement (2024), a performance in which oversized body parts are carried in a mourning procession through the halls of Malmö Art Museum. Here they lie still, but carry with them the memory of movement. The sculpture is a ritual tribute to our bodies’ physical and mental variations – what we must deal with every day in order to move through life. The artist duo LILITH sees the rite as something that holds people together, in small circles and in larger communities where faith and belonging play a crucial role.
