Mark Jenkins, sculpture

Photo: Terese Sundh

Human-like sculptures have been placed around the city. They melt in at first glance but soon defy expectations. The figures draw attention from passers-by and create little zones where the ordinary is sidelined. A parallel reality emerges in which the city is populated by figures that seem to have stepped into the wrong scene, or into a world that follows other rules than our own. Mark Jenkins is an American artist whose installations often evoke strong reactions. His works are based on the human body and created through his own tape technique, which gives them a present realism in which the familiar constantly slips into the absurd.
