LILITH, sculpture

Photo: Petter Pettersson

An arm lies stretched out on the ground, as if temporarily left there. In its monumental scale, it shifts the viewer’s perspective and disrupts the order of the urban space.

The work explores what deviates and breaks norms — that which chafes, disturbs, or is perceived as difficult or extreme, and which therefore is not always allowed to take up space in our society.

On three occasions during the summer, the sculpture is activated through a performance. A group of people carries the arm through the city in a procession, while a newly composed opera piece is performed along the way. The procession becomes a tribute to the physical and psychological variations and imperfections of our bodies.

In the works of the artist duo LILITH, themes of exclusion, love, longing, and grief recur. Their pieces enter the viewer’s consciousness like a disturbance, thereby approaching the question of what it means to be human.

Performance: 13 June, 18 July, 16 August, 14:00.
