PAVONA (Coral Maze)

PAVONA spreads out across Slottsparken as a 30-metre-wide coral structure made of rebar and recycled fishing net collected from the Swedish west coast. Visitors move through a labyrinthine shape that calls to mind the world’s largest known coral, recently discovered in the Pacific Ocean. The work transforms marine waste into permeable architecture and directs attention to the ocean’s vulnerability, not least the last coral reefs in the Koster Sea. The sensuous walk invites reflection on our shared responsibility for life below the surface.
